2 Policemen Killed in Third attack on Kogi Bank Branch

Two Nigerian police officers were killed in the line of duty on Wednesday, when armed robbers invaded the branch of a commercial bank in Odo-Ere, the headquarters of Yagba West Local Government, Kogi State.

The armed robbery attack occurred around 4:20pm with the dreaded robbers shooting sporadically before gaining entrance into the bank.

According to an eyewitness, who spoke to newsmen, the robbers operated freely in what was believed to be the third of such attacks on that particular branch of the bank.

What made matters worse is the proximity of a divisional police headquarters did not deter the armed robbers and policemen from the special anti-robbery squad on patrol around the axis only showed up much later to pick up their fallen colleagues.

“The Special anti-Robbery Squad manning the border between Kogi and Kwara states came, and carried their dead colleagues away,” said a source.

Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, Willy Aya, said he was on a journey and could not speak on a matter he was not aware of, reports Punch.
