A Nigerian man, Ojotomobor Ovuakponye has been sentenced to two years in prison by Justice Mohammed Yahaya of the Kano State High Court for fraud charges.
According to NGHUBS, Ojotomobor Ovuakponye was arraigned in court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraudulently obtaining the sum of N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira Only) from the account of one Jummai Ruqayya Mohammed.
The convict allegedly claimed to be a staff of Guarantee Trust Bank by sending fraudulent SMS to the complainant that her bank account had a problem and that she should contact her bank but unknown to her, she ended up contacting the convict.
A statement by EFCC reads;
The EFCC has secured the conviction of one Ojotomobor Ovuakponye before Honourable Justice Mohammed Yahaya of the Kano State High Court sitting in Gezawa.
The convict fraudulently obtained the sum of N100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira Only) from the account of one Jummai Ruqayya Mohammed through the bank account of his girlfriend under the guise that he is a staff of Guaranty Trust Bank by sending fraudulent SMS to the complainant that her bank account had a problem and that she should contact her bank but unknown to her, she ended up contacting the convict.
