Rubana Parveen, 18, married Muntaj Ansari, 26, on Wednesday morning, in Chandwa village, in eastern India.
But after the traditional Muslim nuptials the auto rickshaw driver started demanding a huge dowry and insisted on buying an expensive motorbike. The bride’s father, Bashir-ud-din Ansari, 58, who owns a hotel, had already bought him a motorbike but Muntaz wasn’t satisfied and demanded a better model.
A witness said: ‘Everyone kept telling the groom to calm down and tried convincing him to accept what he was given.
‘But he kept threatening to go home without his new bride. The groom and bride’s father were arguing a lot. It was a crazy scene.’
Bride Rubana decided to call a local ‘Qazi’, also known as a Muslim judge or
adjudicator, and with her family’s support she declared an open ‘Talaaq’, which is a Muslim divorce. Bashir-ud-din said he made sure Muntaj’s family return all gifts and dowry money already paid. Muntaj’s family were so ashamed they wrote a letter of apology promising to return everything.
Local residents were outraged with Muntaz’s behavior and as a punishment they made him wear a garland of shoes with a placard reading: ‘I am greedy for dowry’. They even shaved a strip of hair off his head, along with his brother. But later that evening Bashir-ud-din, who is a father of four, arranged for another local man to marry his daughter.
He contacted the family of Mohammed Elias, 25, who lived 25kms from Rubana, and arranged for the pair to marry that same evening.
That night wedding celebrations continued as planned.

Three insiders in the Presidency have told SaharaReporters that Pres. Buhari is being fed intravenously, as he has had severe difficulty eating and drinking fluids for several days.
The sources also disclosed that, although President Buhari’s health had held up for a while after his return from an extended medical vacation in the U.K, his condition has deteriorated in the last several weeks.
They pointed to Mr. Buhari’s eating and drinking problems that have left him too frail to leave his official residence at Aso Rock Villa to attend any official functions.
Mr. Buhari has been unable to attend the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting three weeks in a row. Last week, he also failed to attend the Friday Juma’at prayers because he had to undergo urgent medical treatment that had him confined to a medical room secretly set up inside the residential area of the villa.
SR learned that Mr. Buhari’s British doctors had sent a medical team to the Villa to attend to him. However, sources revealed that the medical team advised that the president should immediately return to the U.K to begin what they described as a slow, complex and long-term treatment that could prolong his life.
S.R’s sources named Chief of Staff Abba Kyari as the anchor of the cabal which also includes Mamman Daura, a businessman and Buhari’s kinsman.

Minister of State, Petroleum Resources Ibe Kachikwu seems confident that President Muhammadu Buhari will win the 2019 Presidential election.
Ibe made this statement during an interview session with CNN anchor, Richard Quest, who was in Nigeria.
Quest asked Kachukwu,
“Is it likely, that within another year your president or his party will be fighting in an election, and pretty much you are already in an election mode?”
Kachikwu responded “Those of us in government are focused on getting work done; the president is probably going to win the election anyway.”
He stated that the current government was taking a realistic stride towards the diversification of Nigeria’s economy, noting that the Nigerians will see results within the next five or seven years.
The minister of state said, “It is realistic. Five or seven years. Petroleum led us into this problem; it has to lead us out.”

Tokunbo Idowu a.k.a TBoss and Kemen have not made up on the controversy which saw Kemen booted out of the big brother Nigeria show.
Tboss was the celebrity guest on Ebuka Uchendu’s ‘rubbin minds’ where she talked on the trending Kemen issue, AY’s joke and Reuben Abati’s body shaming article.
In the interview with the 2017 big brother host, Ebuka, TBoss affirmed her statement of spending the N25m prize money within a week, if she had won.
The reality star disclosed that Kemen had called her over 15 times but she is not ready to talk to him despite the fact that they have met at some social functions.
She said,
“I considered Kemen a friend. He was my go-to guy. He was my buddy, my muscle. He encouraged me. He motivated me. So for what happened to have happened considering all the people that look up to me, it was sad. I was angry.
I was humilated and I did feel violated but I don’t play the victim card. I honestly think that the decision that Big Brother took was the only decision that could have been taken. And everything that Kemen has to say about that, na him get him mouth, e fit use am talk wetin him wan talk but he knows and we know”.
Ebuka then asked if she has seen him since she came out of the house. Here’s her response;
“I have seen him a few times but I really don’t want to talk to him because honestly the day you (Ebuka) came into the house with Karen, I was thinking what would happen if I see Kemen because I thought there would be a party after then. I just wanted to slap him. I think I even said that but then I came out and I said you know what everyone can make mistake because I am an attractive person but then, I come out and I hear the interviews he has given, today he makes an apology and then tomorrow he comes out to say TBoss knows what happened and that if there was no N25 million involved, hopefully she would tell the truth.
What truth are you talking about? You are contradicting yourself. And then you are calling me? He has called me like over 15-20 times but I don’t want to speak to him. I am not ready because if I talk, I would say the wrong things. I want to calm down”.
On AY’s joke, Tboss said,
“I totally feel it was insensitive of him. It was very insensitive because like I said, I have a lot to say. Everyone who watched the show knows I am a very emotional person and I am very sensitive and this is not something that can be overlooked or joked about. I see the comments. I sneak into my Instagram and see the comments and I am like look, you are a female. This could have happened to you.
This probably has happened to you. This incident was on camera. People saw it and people still chose to make light of this situation and make a joke out of it. If I consent to you touching me, that doesn’t mean I consent to you kissing me or going the extra mile. if you do that to me on international tv and someone out there feels it is content for a joke, its unfair.

According to a report by Vanguard, a 33-year-old woman, identified as Sukurat Adedoyin reportedly died following complications during abortion.
The report claims that the mother-of-8 was impregnated by her boyfriend, Identified as Alabi Kamilu, 30.. She then sought for help from an auxiliary nurse, Bello Abosede, 34, to terminate the pregnancy. But later died during the process.
The Investigating Police Officer, Asake Morowuntonu, said the victim was a married woman and had had eight children. Morowuntonu stated that Kamilu, the alleged boyfriend, forced the deceased to terminate the pregnancy.

Mohammed Umar, a final year student studying computer science in Anambra State University, met his untimely end in the hands of unknown assailant.
He was shot to death, on Friday, on his way home from a Students Union event.
His friend who attended the event with him poured out her anguish on Facebook.

A former manager of Nollywood actress Lilian Bach is being detained Kirikiri prisons after the actress ordered her arrest for allegedly stealing over N7million from the actress’ shop.
The accused, Adedoyin Sulaiman pleaded not guilty to alleged crime, stating that rather than the N7m theft, she only borrowed a sum of N120,000 to pay her child’s school fee.
Adedoyin’s sister claimed that her sister is not guilty, adding that the accused only borrowied the stated amount while Lillian was away.
She said that Adedoyin was seriously in need of some money to pay her child’s school fee, got a loan which was approved by the assistant manager and Lillian Bach from the company’s accounts.
‘Adedoyin paid N60,000 out of the money she borrowed from the company’s
accounts and the balance was N60,000.I was later shocked to receive a call that the Police officers have arrested our daughter.
She actually notified the company’s management that she will be resigning right after paying off her debt. Her boss (Lillian Bach) arrested her and not only Adedoyin, but with her visitor who was with her as at that time, who happened to be her brother, she said.’
Reacting to the case, Lilian Bach said in a conversation with New Telegraph:
“The lady took advantage of the fact that I travel a lot to steal and loot so much from my shop.
After the auditing I did with a reputable auditing firm, I realised she’d stolen more than N7million. She got herself an American visa and was going to flee the country. It was sometime in October last year that she gave me a call that she wanted to see me.
I asked her to talk to me over the phone and she then sent me a copy of her visa. I was happy for her and because I trusted her so much, she got into me posing as a true Christian.
If I could leave my business in care of someone and travel as frequently as I’d done, it was because I trusted her…
I told her to let us find a replacement and she told me she’d got someone. So, it was the new sales girl that told me of how badly she and some of her family member had been stealing from my shop.
I told the police who picked her up and I got my account audited. It was the police that charged her to court and when she was unable to meet the bail conditions, she was detained at Kirikiri prisons.

According to a report, Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe will be the fourth woman to bear kids for her husband, Lanre Gentry who is being accused of physical assault.

Lanre Gentry, an American returnee who is into the hospitality business (he also sells cars) was said to have had three women, who all bore children for him before meeting and marrying Mercy Aigbe.
Though his first wife is divorced from him, he was said to have impregnated one Opeyemi Amuda, who had his first son, Lanre, for him.
Opeyemi, then a young girl was said to be a sister to his first wife’s friend. Gentry was said to have started dating the young girl who later became pregnant.
His first wife had just daughters then and he named Opeyemi’s son, Lanre. It was gathered that the boy is 18 years old, lives with his grandparents in Egbeda, Lagos while his mum is abroad and remarried with two other children.
Lanre, after Opeyemi, dated and married an Igbo policewoman who had also packed out of the house.
According to reports, Mercy started dating him after his split from the policewoman and must have decided marrying him when he spoilt her silly with gifts and money. In fact, he was said to have gifted her with two cars (a Honda Element and Honda CRV) on the same day!

They were officially married in 2013.
Meanwhile, Mercy had always said in interviews that she was the second wife.
“How can she be the second wife when she is the fourth to bear children for him? He has children from different women and when Mercy had Juwon, Lanre called all his baby mamas that they should bring all his children to come and live under same roof with one another in his house but those women declined. The many responsibilities must have also contributed to his financial misfortune because he is not as rich as when Mercy met him,” a reliable source said.
One of the reasons that caused fracas in his marriage to Mercy was infidelity from his part. It was gathered and alleged that Lanre was dating Opemititi, a young lady, who lives in Abeokuta but comes to Lagos regularly.
The lady also known as “Queen Stunner” was said to be very close to Mercy and visited her at home. There are allegations that the estranged husband of Mercy is having an affair with Opemititi.
For now, Mercy is said to have been separated from Lanre and moved out of the home.

Indications have emerged that Lanre Gentry, husband of popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe may be prosecuted for wife battery as Lagos State government has begun investigation into the matter.
Mercy, it was gathered, has dragged her hotelier husband, Gentry, to the Lagos Ministry of Women Affairs for investigation and prosecution over alleged battery and assault.
He has denied the accusation, saying, he didn’t beat his wife. The influential hotelier wrote,
“I love my wife so much” adding that “Well I know my wife did not have hand in this because have never beat my wife and I we never beat her because I love her so much”
A top official with ministry revealed that the case has been brought to the attention of the body; stressing it is a matter of urgency due to the mandate given to the ministry by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to crack down on domestic violence especially against women.
“Truely, the case is with us here. It was reported here by the victim herself, and because of the governor’s zero tolerance for domestic violence, we are as a matter of urgency investigating the whole drama.
It is a good thing that it has also been brought to the public eye. We’re still very much on top of the matter and we’ll get it to its logical conclusion,” he said.
