Football quest turned to tragedy in Calabar when a high tension cable fell on a viewing centre during the UEFA Europa League quarter-final match between Manchester United and Anderlecht that was aired from 8:05pm till 10:40pm last night.
Over 30 people lost their lives as a result of the contact between the wire and the viewing centre made of zinc.
The match however, ended in favour of Manchester United, who won the match on a 3-2 aggregate, with Marcus Rashford netting the winner in the 107th minute.
Channels Television correspondent in Calabar reported that the live electricity cable broke from its mooring and fell on the viewers.
