Oba of Lagos publicly snubs Ooni of Ife

There’s controversy brewing in the yoruba land as the Oba of Lagos publicly snubs Ooni of Ife.

Yesterday, at an event, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II walked into the hall and his aides were scurrying around to comfort him.

He got to his seat and he greeted the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnanyelugo Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe who was seated next to him with a handshake. He moved to greet the Oba of Lagos, His Highness Oba Rilwan Akiolu and he was snubbed point blank.

The cause of the friction between them remain unknown but that hasn’t stopped speculation  and opinion sharing on social media.

Some are saying it’s due to his young age while others are plainly blasting the Oba of Lagos for being rude.

Someone share this photo to show the ranking of the traditional rulers dating back to the colonial era.

Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife (born October 17, 1974) is a Nigerian accountant and the 51st Ooni of Ife. He succeeded the late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, who died on July 28, 2015.

The Oba (king) of Lagos is the traditional, yet ceremonial, sovereign of Lagos. The king has no political power, but is sought as a counsel or sponsor by Nigerian politicians who seek support from the various residents of Lagos.

The current Oba of Lagos, His Highness Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has served in the position since May 2003.
