Celebrities have always been known for their famous fashion sense and wonderful senses of style. Many people look at them, and simply believe that these looks are completely unattainable. This simply isn’t the case!
Fashion can be both affordable and absolutely breathtaking when done right. The key is to find pieces that are both flattering and made with high quality materials. This doesn’t mean that they have to cost an arm and a leg! It simply means that you need to be both a savvy and an aggressive shopper. Know what you want, what looks good, and don’t be afraid to go for it!
Celebrities often have some of the best designers in the fashion industry working specifically for them. You can see some of these looks in the latest Naija News. This means that they are generally at the forefront of clothing design, and you can feel fairly confident getting ideas from their well-choreographed looks.
There have definitely been some fashion misses with some of the fashionistas (don’t go out and make a dress entirely from meat)- but you can usually feel pretty confident about some of the suggestions below.
1. The Cold Shoulder
This is a concept that has been applied to both dresses and tops in the top summer fashion lines. This involves exposing the shoulders of the wearer with either cut outs in the shoulder portion of the shirt, or having the neckline actually fall below the shoulders (see the picture above). This has become a wildly popular way to stay cool this summer, while showing off your gorgeous neckline as well! These tops have made their way onto department store racks, and can be paired with anything from jeans to a cute mini skirt.
Cold shoulder dresses involve the same concept, but with a longer design. They can be very tight and sleek, or embrace the flowing Boho chic of the 1960’s and ‘70s. Either way, you can’t go wrong with this affordable option this summer!
2. Bold Floral Prints
This is actually an exciting development for many! These prints have been on discount racks for a long time, but have become increasingly popular as brave designers embrace the bright colors and large floral prints. From form fitting shirts, to flowy palazzo pants- these prints are really making a splash in the fashion world.
Some of these prints have been used on conventional business suit designs, giving this classic a fun new flare! Don’t shy away from the bold and beautiful this summer.
3. Simple Sun Dresses
These cute knee length dresses can be found for under twenty dollars at many retailers. They are a simple cotton design with a scoop neck and slightly flared waist. They are generally made of lighter materials in order to keep the wearer cool.
Look for bright colors, and maybe even some of those bold floral prints! Pair this cute wardrobe addition with a pair of leather booties for a complete summer look.
4. Floral Head Bands
This isn’t referring to the gaudy fake floral head arrangements of the 90’s. These headbands are made with thing strips adorned with realistic looking flowers. The length of your hair will determine the size of the flower that you’ll need (just do what works for you!). The brighter the color- the more realistic the flower should be. We’ve really gotten back to a more organic way of decorating hair that leaves it both fun and elegant.
5. Boots
Boots have been replacing sandals this summer in many cases. Look for the short booties for those cute sundresses, or dress it up with some daring knee length boots.
