Anna Hayes, a high school senior from Lake Village, Arkansas attended prom with a black friend, Phillip Freeman, who she declared as just a friend.
The girl stated that Phillip was her dater because he’s ‘really funny’ and ‘super cute’.
However, her father thought differently as he cut off ties and disowned his daughter because she mingles with the black folks.
According to Anna, he has always been openly racist adding that he saw the photos on Facebook and texted her to register his racist displeasure.
She said,
‘He has told me that if I ever dated a black guy that I will and would be dead to him. I stood my ground for what I believe in. He has called me several horrible things before.’
‘This just hurt more because I can not believe how anyone can hate someone they don’t even know because of their skin color… My mother was horrified and felt terrible but there isn’t anything she can do, she added.’
Explaining to BuzzFeed, Anna stated that her parents are separated and she doesn’t live with her father, adding that he and her dad have had a strained relationship for years despite the fact that she lived with him briefly as a child.
She said that she’s been in her mom’s house since her early teens.
