64 year old grandma bags 25 years for drug trafficking

64 year old Odeyemi Omolola, who was caught alongside Lagos socialite-Mrs. Funmilola Ogbuaya has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by a federal high court in Lagos; for a failed attempt to export 1.595kg of cocaine to Saudi Arabia.

The convict, who is also known as Ariyo Monsurat Olabisi was sentenced by trial judge-Justice Hadizat Rabiu-Shagari after she changed her plea in an amended five counts of the charge.

She was arraigned on three counts charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession of banned drug, and attempt to export the drugs to Saudi Arabia

The Lagos socialite- Funmilola Ogbuaya also known as Ariket, is facing charges bordering on conspiracy, aiding and abetting and procuring of the said banned drug for the convict.

However, at the resumption of the trial, the two accused persons yesterday, the convict- Omolara, through her lawyer-Mr. King Wilson, informed the court of her intention to change her plea; particularly, on count four of the charge which based on attempt to export 1.595kg of Cocaine to Saudi Arabia.

Her request was granted by Justice Rabiu-Shagari, who ordered the charge to be read to her again.

After the charge was read to the convict, she pleaded guilty but Justice Rabiu-Shagari consequently sentenced her to 25 years imprisonment, starting from when she was first arrested.
