JSS 1 student expelled for putting acid in classmate’s water bottle

A 12-year-old boy has been expelled from British International School in Lekki area of Lagos state, after he was caught putting acid in a female classmate’s water bottle.

According to reports, the young boy was jealous of a female classmate who was doing better than him. He stole a vial of sulphuric acid and ethanol from the school’s lab.

The unidentified boy mixed the two chemicals together and put them in his female classmate’s water bottle.

We gathered that the boy was exposed by two male students who saw him commit the act and reported him to the girl before she drank from the bottle.

The suspect allegedly owned up to the crime, saying he had been planning it for sometime.

A member of the 11-year-old’s family said on Wednesday that despite the culprit’s confession, the school allowed him to sit for the third term examination.

When contacted the school management, an official, who did not identify herself, said the pupil had been expelled.

She said, “The boy has been expelled with immediate effect. The girl is in school and she is fine. We have zero tolerance for such misbehaviour.”
