FG pays 20 whistleblowers N375.8 million who helped in N11.6 billion recovery

The Federal Government, on Wednesday, stated that it had released about N375.8 million as payment to 20 whistleblowers who provided information that led to the recovery over N11.6 billion.

This information was disclosed in a statement by the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.

In the statement, it was disclosed that the payments are the first under the country’s Whistleblower Policy, which entitles a whistleblower to a minimum of five percent of the money involved in the corruption case reported by the individual.

“The payment underscores the commitment of the President Muhmmadu Buhari-led administration to meet its obligations to information providers under the Whistleblower Policy, which is an essential tool in the fight against corruption,” the statement reads in part.

The identities of the individuals were shielded for security reasons to protect the information providers from retaliation from the looters.
