Kidnappers Den Uncovered Near Ondo State House of Assembly

An uncompleted two-storey building alleged to be the den of kidnappers and ritualists was discovered in Alagbaka area of Akure, the Ondo State capital. The building said to be owned by a retired civil servant is located few meters away from the Ondo State House of Assembly behind the popular government-owned events center, the Gani Fawehinmi Arcade.

The building was discovered by the occupants of the area, who noticed that some group of men were always inside the building carrying out secret activities on a daily basis.

Punch stated according to several residents of the area that the building has been abandoned for ages and most of the people living around the area do not know the actual owner of the building.

One of the residents also stated that “The suspects thought the gunshot was from the policemen who came for them. They quickly rushed out, but some commercial motorcycle riders in the area helped us to chase and arrest four of them, whom we later handed over to the police.”

The source also stated that “it was the timely intervention of policemen that saved the suspects from being lynched by the angry residents of the area.”

On reacting to the incident the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, said most of the suspects have been arrested.

Joseph said, “We have arrested quite a number of them and we are currently interrogating them. It is after the interrogation and investigation that we can conclude whether they are ritualists or not”.
